77 Prints bio picture

So you want to know about me?

Let's start with the basics: my name is Clare and I live in Dallas. Here are a few random facts that might help you understand who I am...

- Received my BA in Art from Rhodes College but begged them to say "Art History" for my parents' benefit when I graduated. No dice.

- Wrote my senior thesis on this painting during my junior year while everyone else was in Florida on Spring Break. 11 years later and I'm still bitter.

- Interned at a small gallery where I was privileged enough to have works by Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans and Lewis Hine at my fingertips. Got valuable first hand experience on how to deal with a certain shipping service when they destroyed a rare painting in transit to another gallery.

- Would give anything for the chance to be a concert photographer for a summer or twelve.

Went for a walk this evening and couldn’t resist pulling out the camera out when I got back to my car.

{ summer photos }

I think it’s safe to say that we skipped spring and went straight on into summer. Luckily I found some flora and fauna still living this weekend despite triple digit temperatures.

And tonight I quite literally ran across (or, it ran across me) the biggest nastiest looking spider you’ve ever seen. It’s not the best picture,...

{ from the archives }

I pulled some photos from my trip to Germany in 2008 and took them back into Lightroom for some re-editing. Here are 2 of them:
This is the view from Neuschwanstein Castle (the original is here)

Same area as above, just different vantage point. The castle you see is called Hohenschwangau Castle (and here is the original)

{ saturday morning }

Lovely day in Dallas. Everyone was out running, biking, playing, sailing and generally just enjoying this outstanding weather we’re having. The first photo below is actually 3 photos stitched together. Not the best attempt, but not too terrible!

{ catesby & collier }

So much of this job hinges on the weather. When it’s good it’s good and when it’s bad it’s… actually not that bad. It did rain overnight, but it wasn’t raining this morning so we went ahead with our bluebonnet shoot. The weather reports indicated that storms were coming within two hours so the clock...

{ more bluebonnets }

As you can tell from the skies, the weather is not looking good. Which is unfortunate because I am scheduled to shoot tomorrow. That said, I love shooting in this overcast light. It’s like nature’s softbox.

{ spring has sprung }

I don’t want to jinx myself, but I feel like Spring has finally arrived for good. I went on a little excursion today looking for bluebonnets and this is what I found.  Don’t ask me where this is because I’m not telling, but if you want your picture made in the bluebonnets drop me a...
